AI SEO is search optimization where AI does the reading and writing and people set the direction. At AI Coworkers, strategists connect your Search Console and Analytics. AI coworkers then pick topics from your real searches, write and refresh pages, and fix your site every week. Your AI coworkers read your Search Console every week, then write the articles and fix the pages closest to page one. Your team approves each change. What teams deal with today: - You rank 8th to 15th for searches that matter, and nobody is working on it. - The SEO plan was made a year ago and never matched to real data. - An agency sends a monthly report; the site itself barely changes. What the AI coworkers deliver every week: - New articles on searches people already use to find you, in your voice. - Rewrites of pages ranking 5th to 20th, where a small lift brings real clicks. - A site check with speed, title and broken-link fixes, sent to your developer. - A short read every Friday: what moved, what didn't, and next week's plan. How it works: 1. Setup week: a strategist connects Search Console and Analytics, and agrees with you which searches are worth winning. 2. Every week: Your SEO coworker picks the pages closest to page one and checks the site; your content coworker writes and rewrites. 3. Your team approves each change before it goes live. It goes live on your site, and the next week starts from what moved. Questions: - **What is AI SEO?** SEO where AI coworkers read your search data and write the pages, and people set the goals and approve the work. - **How does AI SEO work?** Your SEO coworker pulls your searches, clicks and positions from Search Console each week. The plan goes to the pages and topics with the most room to move. - **AI SEO vs SEO: what's the difference?** The goal is the same: be found on Google. The difference is pace. Work that took a month happens every week, from your own data. - **AI SEO vs GEO: do we need both?** Usually, yes. SEO gets you found on Google; GEO gets you named in ChatGPT and Gemini. Many of the same pages do both jobs. - **Will AI-written articles hurt our rankings?** Google ranks helpful pages, however they're written. Every article is built on your expertise, cites its sources and is approved by your team. - **How long does AI SEO take to work?** Page rewrites can move in two to six weeks. New articles take longer, often two to three months. The Friday read shows the trend early. - **Which sites can you publish to?** Webflow, and sites built from code on GitHub, such as Next.js on Vercel. Every change waits for a yes. - **Is AI Coworkers an agency?** No. It's a service. Our strategists set up AI coworkers that do your SEO every week, in your own accounts. Your team approves everything. ## AI search (GEO) URL: https://www.aicoworkers.com/generative-engine-optimization AI coworkers that get you named when buyers ask ChatGPT. Generative engine optimization (GEO) is getting your company named and cited in answers from AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity. AI Coworkers sets up AI coworkers that check those answers for your buyers' questions. They find where competitors appear instead of you, and write the pages that change it. Buyers now ask AI assistants for a shortlist. Your AI coworkers find out who gets named for your category, and write the pages that put you on it. What teams deal with today: - A prospect said ChatGPT recommended three competitors, and not you. - You have no idea what AI assistants say about your product. - Your SEO is fine, but assistants quote other sites about your category. What the AI coworkers deliver every week: - Your buyers' questions, asked in four AI assistants, with each answer saved. - A list of who gets named and which pages each assistant cites. - New answer pages and comparison pages aimed at each gap. - Your share of answers, tracked over time against each competitor. How it works: 1. Setup week: a strategist agrees the 10 to 30 buyer questions that matter, and the competitors to track. 2. Every week: Your AI search coworker asks every assistant those questions; each gap becomes a page on the plan. 3. Your content coworker writes, your team approves, and the next check shows whether the answer changed. Questions: - **What does generative engine optimization mean?** Making your company the one AI assistants name and cite when buyers ask about your category. - **Generative engine optimization vs SEO: what's the difference?** SEO wins a place in Google's list of links. GEO wins a mention inside the answer itself. Strong SEO pages help both. - **GEO vs AEO: are they the same?** Close. Answer engine optimization started with featured snippets and voice search. GEO is the same idea for ChatGPT-style answers. We do both. - **How do you get mentioned in ChatGPT?** Assistants repeat what clear pages and trusted sites say. Your AI coworkers write pages that answer the question directly, and find the lists assistants read. - **Which AI assistants do you check?** ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity, weekly by default and daily if you want. - **How long until we're named?** Often weeks for narrow questions, longer for broad ones. You see the trend from the first check. - **Is AI Coworkers an agency?** No. It's a service. Our strategists set up AI coworkers that do your generative engine optimization every week, in your own accounts. Your team approves everything. ## Content marketing URL: https://www.aicoworkers.com/b2b-content-marketing B2B content in every format, written in your voice. SEO content writing is creating pages that answer what buyers search on Google, so they find you first. AI Coworkers sets up AI coworkers that pick topics from your Search Console and write from your experts' knowledge and customer stories. Every claim is checked against a source, and every draft goes to your team. Articles, guides, case studies, landing pages, newsletters and sales one-pagers, written from what your team knows. Your team approves every draft. What teams deal with today: - Freelance articles read fine, but never say anything only you could say. - Your best customer stories live in sales calls, not on the website. - Someone picks topics by gut feel, so traffic never reaches the pages that sell. What the AI coworkers deliver every week: - Articles briefed from real searches, with the angle only your team can give. - A customer story written up for sales to send, from your notes or a call recording. - Landing pages for each offer, written to match how buyers search for it. - Guides and one-pagers your sales team can send, plus a monthly newsletter. How it works: 1. Setup week: a strategist interviews your experts, collects your best stories and lists the words you never use. 2. Every week: Your content coworker briefs and writes from your searches and your knowledge; your AI team lead checks every claim has a source. 3. Your team edits or approves. Approved pages publish to your site; every edit makes the next draft closer. Questions: - **What is SEO content writing?** Writing pages that answer what your buyers search on Google, so the answer they find is yours. - **Who writes the content?** Your content coworker from your experts' knowledge. A strategist sets the voice; your team approves every draft. - **Will it sound like our team, not like AI?** It's built from your own writing, calls and stories. Every edit you make is kept, so each draft sounds more like you. - **How do you choose topics?** From your Search Console searches, your sales team's common questions, and gaps where competitors rank and you don't. - **Who checks the facts?** Every number links to its source. Your AI team lead flags anything she couldn't check before your team sees it. - **Can you write case studies without interviewing our customer?** Yes. We work from your notes, a call recording or a short questionnaire your customer fills in. - **Is AI Coworkers an agency?** No. It's a service. Our strategists set up AI coworkers that do your content marketing every week, in your own accounts. Your team approves everything. ## LinkedIn for leaders URL: https://www.aicoworkers.com/linkedin-marketing AI coworkers that keep your leaders seen on LinkedIn. LinkedIn ghostwriting is writing updates that a leader publishes under their own name. With AI Coworkers, a strategist learns the leader's voice from their own writing. Your LinkedIn coworker drafts from your customer calls and numbers, and the leader approves every update before it's scheduled. Your CEO's ideas, written in their voice and ready to approve in minutes. Buyers know your leaders before the first call. What teams deal with today: - Your CEO has strong opinions, but hasn't published one in months. - Past ghostwriters made the CEO sound like everyone else on LinkedIn. - Briefing a writer takes as long as writing the update yourself. What the AI coworkers deliver every week: - Two to five updates for one leader, drafted from that week's calls and news. - A short note with each draft: the story, the opinion and why it fits now. - Each update shown exactly as LinkedIn will show it, scheduled after a yes. - A Friday read on reach, who engaged, and which topics landed. How it works: 1. Setup week: a strategist reads the leader's own writing and talks, and agrees three to five themes they want people to know them for. 2. Every week: Your LinkedIn coworker drafts from your customer calls, numbers and market news, and notes why each topic fits now. 3. The leader approves, edits or asks for a change from their phone. Your LinkedIn coworker schedules approved updates; every edit sharpens the voice. Questions: - **What is LinkedIn ghostwriting?** Writing LinkedIn updates that a leader publishes under their own name, in their own voice, with their approval. - **Will it sound like me?** It's learned from your own writing and talks, and you approve every word. Each edit you make teaches the next draft. - **How much time does the leader spend?** Usually 10 to 15 minutes a week to read, tweak and approve, from their phone. - **Can you write for the company page too?** Yes. One leader's profile or the company page, agreed in setup week. - **Do you comment or send messages on our behalf?** No. Comments, replies and messages stay with the leader. It's their network. - **How much does a LinkedIn ghostwriter cost?** With us it's part of a full team that costs less than one marketing hire. We'll give you the exact number on the call. - **Is AI Coworkers an agency?** No. It's a service. Our strategists set up AI coworkers that do your LinkedIn every week, in your own accounts. Your team approves everything. ## Social and video URL: https://www.aicoworkers.com/social-media-content One recording. A week of finished video. Their website, pricing, LinkedIn, Instagram and ads on Google, Microsoft, Meta, LinkedIn and TikTok, checked on a schedule. You get the changes that matter, what they mean for your deals, and a ready response. What teams deal with today: - A prospect told your rep about a competitor's new free plan before anyone at your company knew. - The battlecards in your sales deck were last updated two quarters ago. - You have a monitoring tool, but its alerts land in an inbox nobody reads. What the AI coworkers deliver every week: - A digest of what each competitor changed, ranked by how much it matters to your deals. - Price and plan changes with the before and after, kept as a history. - The ads they're running and how long each has run, a strong sign of what's working for them. - A suggested response for the big changes: a page update, a sales note or a LinkedIn update, for your yes. SaaS marketing is how a software company gets found, compared and chosen by buyers. For B2B SaaS teams, AI Coworkers sets up AI coworkers for the work behind demo requests. That means comparison pages, problem-led articles, founder LinkedIn and competitor tracking. Strategists set it up around your stage and numbers. SaaS buyers compare you with two or three rivals before they book a demo. Your AI coworkers write the comparison, alternatives and integration pages they read, from your data and the market's. What teams deal with today: - Buyers compare you with three rivals on pages you didn't write. - Buyers want to hear from your founder, and your founder has no time to write. - Board meetings ask which channel drives demos, and the answer is a guess. What the AI coworkers deliver every week: - Comparison and alternative pages: you against each rival, with sourced facts. - Articles on the problem your product solves, aimed at searches with buying intent. - LinkedIn updates for your founder, drafted in their voice for a quick yes. - Demo-page and pricing-page improvements, tested against what your analytics show. How it works: 1. Setup week: a strategist lists the three rivals you lose deals to, and the searches buyers make before a demo. 2. Every week: we ship the pages and updates with the most demo potential, guided by Search Console and your CRM. 3. Your team approves; each month we show which pages and channels sourced demos. Questions: - **What does a SaaS marketing agency do?** Usually SEO, content, paid ads and strategy on a retainer. We set up AI coworkers that do the organic work every week in your accounts, and your team approves it. - **What is the best marketing strategy for B2B SaaS?** Be found when buyers compare. Comparison pages, problem-led content and a visible founder usually beat broad awareness work at early stages. - **Which SaaS marketing metrics matter?** Demo requests and the pipeline they create, then where they came from. We report both from your analytics and CRM. - **Can you write comparison pages about our competitors?** Yes. Every claim about a competitor links to its own site, with a date, so the pages stay fair and accurate. - **Our site is on Next.js or Webflow. Can you publish?** Yes. Webflow directly, or Next.js through pull requests your developer approves. - **Do you run paid ads?** No. Your AI coworkers read your Google, LinkedIn and Meta ads results to guide the plan, but never change campaigns. - **Is AI Coworkers an agency?** No. It's a service. GTM engineering is building the systems that find, research and reach the right buyers, joining data, enrichment, signals and outreach into workflows. AI Coworkers sets it up as a service. Our strategists design the workflows around how you sell, and AI coworkers run them every week. Signals, accounts, people, reasons and plays: the system a GTM engineer would build in Clay. We set it up around how you sell; your AI coworkers run it every week. What teams deal with today: - You've read about GTM engineers and Clay, and you're not sure whether to hire one or learn it yourself. - Good GTM engineers are rare, and a senior one costs about $150k a year, plus $20-30k in tools. - The tools are bought, but signals sit in five places and nobody turns them into action. What the AI coworkers deliver every week: - Lookalike accounts from your closed-won deals, refreshed every Monday. - Signals that matter, such as hiring, funding and a rival's price rise, matched to those accounts. - A play for each strong signal: who to contact, why now and what to say. - Content gaps from search and AI search, turned into pages that support the plays. How it works: 1. Setup week: a strategist maps how you sell, connects your CRM, and agrees the signals worth acting on. 2. Every week: Your leads, competitor and AI search coworkers run the workflows, from fresh accounts to ready plays. 3. Your team approves the plays and reaches out; next week's workflows learn from what converted. Questions: - **What is a GTM engineer?** Someone who builds the systems behind sales and marketing: account lists, enrichment, signals and the workflows that connect them, often in Clay. - **What does a GTM engineer do day to day?** Builds and maintains workflows: finding accounts, enriching contacts, tracking signals and routing ready leads to reps. Much of the work is upkeep. - **GTM engineer vs RevOps: what's the difference?** RevOps runs the systems and reporting. A GTM engineer builds the workflows that create pipeline. We set up the second, and AI coworkers run it, in your existing tools. - **What does a GTM engineer cost?** A senior hire is about $150k a year, plus $20-30k in tools. We cost less than that, and we'll give you an exact number on the call. - **Do we still need to hire a GTM engineer?** Often later. After that, get your company mentioned on the sites ChatGPT draws on, and check every week which answers name you. There's no form to fill in and no fee to pay. ChatGPT names the companies it can find, understand and trust for a given question. Your job is to be all three. ## Why being recommended by ChatGPT matters now Sam Altman said at OpenAI's DevDay in October 2025 that ChatGPT had [more than 800 million weekly users](https://techcrunch.com/2025/10/06/sam-altman-says-chatgpt-has-hit-800m-weekly-active-users/). Many of them are your buyers. B2B buyers now use these tools while they shop. A 2025 report from 6sense found that [94% of B2B buyers use large language models such as ChatGPT during their buying journey](https://6sense.com/guides/how-genai-and-llms-are-changing-b2b-buyer-research-and-how-to-respond/). When a buyer asks "which tools should I look at for X?", the answer is a short list. If you're not on it, you may never hear from that buyer. If you're new to the idea, our guide to [what generative engine optimization is](/blog/what-is-generative-engine-optimization) covers the basics. This post is the practical how-to. ## How ChatGPT decides who to recommend ChatGPT answers in two ways. Sometimes it answers from what it learned in training. Often, for buying questions, it searches the web and cites the pages it found. You can influence both, but in different ways: | How ChatGPT answers | What it relies on | What you can do | |---|---|---| | From training | What the web said about you when the model was trained | Be mentioned widely and consistently over time | | From live search | Pages its search can reach today | Let the crawler in, publish pages that answer the question | | Either way | How clearly your company is described | Say plainly what you do, for whom, and what it costs | The search side moves fastest. A new page can be found and cited soon after it goes live. Training data changes slowly, so mentions you earn now pay off later too. ## Step 1: Let ChatGPT's search crawler in OpenAI runs a crawler called OAI-SearchBot. OpenAI's documentation says that [sites opted out of OAI-SearchBot "will not be shown in ChatGPT search answers"](https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/bots). It recommends allowing it in your site's robots.txt file. Check this first, because it's a five-minute fix. Open yoursite.com/robots.txt and look for any line that blocks OAI-SearchBot. Ask whoever runs your website to check the firewall and bot-blocking settings too. Some security tools block AI crawlers by default. OpenAI also says changes can take about 24 hours to take effect. ## Step 2: Write down the questions your buyers ask List 15 to 20 questions a buyer might type before they'd buy from you. Group them into three kinds: - **"Best" questions:** "best invoicing software for a design studio with 20 staff" - **"Versus" questions:** "Xero vs QuickBooks for a UK consultancy" - **Problem questions:** "how do I stop late payments from clients" Ask each one in ChatGPT with search turned on. Note which companies get named and which pages get cited. This list becomes your plan. It shows where you're missing, and who is taking your place. ## Step 3: Publish the page that answers each question For every question where you should be named and aren't, write one page that answers it better than anything else online. Pages that get quoted share a few habits: - **The answer comes first.** Put a direct answer in the first two sentences. Explain afterwards. - **One question per page.** A page that tries to answer ten questions answers none of them clearly. - **Facts with sources.** The paper that coined the term GEO found that adding citations, quotations and statistics made pages more visible in AI answers. It reported gains of [up to 40% in its tests](https://arxiv.org/abs/2311.09735). - **Tables and lists.** Comparisons, prices and steps are easier to quote when they're laid out clearly. - **Honest comparisons.** If a competitor suits some buyers better, say so. A fair page is more useful, and more likely to be trusted. This also helps on Google. Google says there are [no special requirements to appear in its AI Overviews](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/ai-features) beyond its usual advice. That means helpful content, crawlable pages and important content in text. ## Step 4: Describe your company the same way everywhere ChatGPT can only recommend you for the right questions if it knows what you do. Vague homepages make that hard. On your own site, state these plainly, in words a buyer would use: - what you sell, in one sentence - who it's for, by industry, size or role - what it costs, or at least where pricing starts - where you operate - how you're different from the obvious alternatives Then make your listings match. Your LinkedIn page, review site profiles, directory entries and partner pages should all describe you the same way. Conflicting descriptions give an assistant reasons to leave you out, or to describe you wrongly. ## Step 5: Get mentioned on sites ChatGPT trusts Your own site is only one voice. Assistants also weigh what others say about you. There's useful evidence from Google's side. Ahrefs studied 75,000 brands and found that [mentions of a brand across the web correlated with AI Overview visibility at 0.664](https://ahrefs.com/blog/ai-overview-brand-correlation/). Backlinks correlated at only 0.218. That study looked at Google, not ChatGPT, but the lesson is the same: being talked about matters. Places worth your time: - review sites in your category, with recent reviews from real customers - "best X" round-ups and comparison articles that your buyers read - industry publications, podcasts and newsletters - community discussions where buyers ask for recommendations, answered honestly - partner and integration directories Look back at the pages ChatGPT cited in Step 2. Those are the sites it already trusts for your questions. Start there. ## Step 6: Keep pages fresh and correct Out-of-date pages cost you twice. An old price or retired feature can be repeated in answers, and newer pages from competitors may be preferred. Put a "last updated" date on key pages. Review your pricing, product and comparison pages every quarter. When something changes, update every page and listing that mentions it, not just the homepage. ## Step 7: Check the answers every week Answers change as models update, competitors publish and new sources appear. Ask your question list again every week, in the same way, and keep a simple record: | Question | Named? | Position | Pages cited | Change since last week | |---|---|---|---|---| | best X for Y | Yes | 3rd of 5 | Your comparison page, a review site | Up from not named | Over a few months this shows which pages are working, and which questions still need one. ## Common mistakes to avoid - **Blocking the crawler by accident.** It's the most common reason a good site never gets cited. - **Writing for the algorithm instead of the buyer.** Stuffed keywords and padded pages don't get quoted. - **Chasing one big answer.** Being named for twenty specific questions beats chasing one broad one. - **Making claims you can't back up.** Assistants, and buyers, discount pages that don't show their sources. - **Stopping after one round.** This is weekly work, like SEO, not a one-off project. ## How to get my business listed in ChatGPT There is no form to submit and no paid listing for organic answers. "Getting listed" means being findable and trusted. Steps 1 to 4 are the way in. ## How to get cited in ChatGPT A citation is a link to your page in the answer. Pages get cited when they answer the exact question clearly. Short definitions, comparison tables and specific numbers help. Pages behind logins or heavy scripts are harder to read. ## FAQ ### Can I pay to be mentioned in ChatGPT? You cannot pay for placement in ChatGPT's organic answers. Mentions come from what it finds and trusts. ### How long does it take to show up in ChatGPT? It varies. Search-based answers can change soon after pages are crawled. Answers based on training change more slowly. ### Does SEO help with ChatGPT? Yes. Clear, crawlable, well-linked pages help both search rankings and AI citations. ### Does llms.txt help with ChatGPT? There is little evidence that ChatGPT reads llms.txt today. Crawler access and clear pages matter more. ### How do I know if ChatGPT mentions my business? Ask your buyers' questions in ChatGPT regularly and record the results. Use the same wording each time. ## Get recommended without doing it all yourself This is the work our AI search coworker does every week. It asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude what your buyers ask, records who gets named, and hands the gaps to the writers on the team. Your team approves every page before it goes live. See how it works on our [generative engine optimization](/generative-engine-optimization) page. This post was written by our AI search coworker with Abhishek, our founder, and approved before it was published, like everything on this blog. ## AI coworker vs AI agent: what's the difference? URL: https://www.aicoworkers.com/blog/ai-coworker-vs-ai-agent An AI agent is software that uses a language model to take actions toward a goal, choosing its own steps and tools. An AI coworker is a way of putting agents to work. Each one owns a defined job and works inside your team's tools on a schedule, directed and approved by people. ## What an AI agent is The word "agent" is used loosely. Anthropic offers a useful line. It calls agents ["systems where LLMs dynamically direct their own processes and tool usage"](https://www.anthropic.com/research/building-effective-agents). It contrasts them with workflows, which follow predefined code paths. So an agent can search the web, read a file, call an API or write a draft. It decides the order based on what it finds. That is a technical description. It says nothing about who the agent works for or what job it owns. ## What an AI coworker is "AI coworker" is a framing, not a new kind of software. It describes how agents are organized around work that a team already does. An AI coworker usually has: - **A defined job**, such as SEO articles, competitor tracking or lead research. - **A home in your tools**, such as your CRM, website or analytics. - **A rhythm**, for example weekly research and updates. - **A person in charge**, who sets direction and approves what goes out. - **Memory of past work**, so it builds on last week instead of starting fresh. Several companies now use the term, and meanings differ a little. The common thread is ownership plus human oversight. ## AI coworker vs AI agent comparison | | AI agent | AI coworker | |---|---|---| | What it is | Software that acts toward a goal | One or more agents that own a job in a team | | Scope | A task or a goal | An ongoing role with recurring deliverables | | Who directs it | Whoever builds or prompts it | A named person on your team | | Where it works | Anywhere it has tool access | Inside your team's existing tools | | Human approval | Optional, depends on design | Built in before anything is published or sent | | How you judge it | Did it complete the task? | Is the job getting done well, week after week? | ## AI employees for marketing You may also see the phrase "AI employees for marketing." It points at the same idea: AI that handles a marketing job, not a single prompt. The word "employee" can mislead. AI does not replace judgment about your market, your brand or your buyers. It works best on repeatable, research-heavy work with a person checking the result. Good fits in B2B marketing include: - Researching and drafting search-friendly articles. - Checking how AI assistants answer your buyers' questions. - Watching competitors' sites, pricing and ads. - Finding lookalike accounts and reasons to reach out. - Drafting LinkedIn updates from your own material. Poor fits include final brand decisions, sensitive customer conversations and anything with no one to check it. ## Examples **An AI agent:** you ask a tool to research ten competitors and write a summary. It browses, collects notes and returns a report. Then it stops. **An AI coworker:** a competitor tracking coworker checks the same five competitors every week. It notes pricing changes and new ads, and flags what matters. Your marketing lead reads it and decides what to do. ## Common mistakes - **Expecting full autonomy.** Unchecked output drifts off-brand or gets facts wrong. - **No clear owner.** If nobody reviews the work, quality slips quietly. - **Too many jobs at once.** Start with one job, judge it, then add more. - **Measuring activity, not results.** Count useful deliverables and their effect, not tasks run. ## FAQ ### Is an AI coworker just a chatbot? No. A chatbot answers when you ask. An AI coworker does recurring work on its own schedule and brings results for review. ### Can AI agents work without humans? Some can run alone. For marketing that reaches buyers, human approval is the safer default. ### Will AI coworkers replace my marketing team? They take on repeatable research and drafting. Your team keeps strategy, judgment and final approval. ### What is the best first job for an AI coworker? Pick work that is regular, research-heavy and easy to check, such as competitor tracking or article research. ### Are AI employees for marketing safe for my brand? They are safer when every deliverable needs approval before it is published or sent. ## How AI Coworkers helps AI Coworkers (aicoworkers.com) sets up AI coworkers that run a B2B company's go-to-market. Our strategists map how your team sells and set them up around those workflows: SEO, AI search, LinkedIn, lead generation and competitor tracking. Your team directs and approves. Each coworker owns one job, and nothing is published until someone on your team approves it. ## What is AI-native GTM? URL: https://www.aicoworkers.com/blog/ai-native-gtm AI-native GTM is a go-to-market approach designed around AI from the start. AI agents do the research, list building, drafting and monitoring, while people set strategy, choose targets and approve what goes out. It differs from adding AI tools to an old process: the process itself is rebuilt so AI does the repeatable work. ## What is AI GTM? "AI GTM" is the broad term. It covers any use of AI in marketing and sales, from writing an email to scoring leads. Most teams start with AI-assisted GTM. A person opens a tool, writes a prompt and pastes the result somewhere. That saves minutes, but the process stays the same. AI-native GTM changes who does the work. Recurring jobs run on their own schedule. People review results instead of producing every step by hand. ## How AI-native GTM works A typical AI-native setup has four layers: 1. **Your data.** CRM records, website analytics, search data and past deals. This tells the system what good looks like. 2. **Agents with defined jobs.** One researches accounts. One drafts articles. One watches competitors. Each has clear inputs and deliverables. 3. **A schedule.** Work runs weekly or daily, not only when someone remembers. 4. **Human approval.** A named person reviews and approves before anything is published or sent. The loop matters most. Results feed back into the data, so next week's work improves on this week's. ## AI-assisted vs AI-native GTM | | AI-assisted GTM | AI-native GTM | |---|---|---| | Who starts the work | A person, each time | A schedule or a signal | | Role of AI | A helper inside a task | Owns a recurring job | | Role of people | Do the work, with AI help | Set direction and approve | | Data use | Whatever the person pastes in | Reads your CRM and analytics directly | | Consistency | Depends on who is busy | Same checks every cycle | | Risk | Slow and uneven | Errors at scale if no one reviews | ## The AI GTM stack An "AI GTM stack" is the set of tools behind this. It usually includes: - **A CRM** as the system of record, such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho or Pipedrive. - **Analytics and search data**, such as Google Analytics and Search Console. - **Data and enrichment sources** for company and contact details. - **Email verification and sending tools** for outreach. - **Language models** for research, writing and classification. - **Monitoring sources**, such as competitor sites and public ad libraries. - **A place to review and approve** deliverables. An "AI GTM platform" tries to bundle several of these. Some teams prefer one platform. Others connect separate tools. What matters is that data flows both ways and people stay in control. ## Examples **Account research.** An agent reads your best customers in the CRM, finds similar companies, checks contact emails and writes a reason to reach out. A sales rep approves the list. **Search and AI answers.** An agent tracks which buyer questions you rank for and which AI assistants name you. It drafts articles to close gaps. Marketing approves before publishing. **Competitor tracking.** An agent checks competitors' pricing pages and ad libraries each week. It flags changes worth acting on. ## Common mistakes - **Automating a broken process.** If targeting is wrong, AI reaches the wrong people faster. - **Removing review.** Fully automatic outreach can damage your domain and your brand. - **Too many tools.** A stack nobody understands breaks quietly. - **Ignoring your own data.** Generic AI output looks generic. Your CRM and analytics make it specific. ## How to start 1. Pick one recurring job that eats time, such as weekly account research. 2. Write down what a good result looks like, with an example. 3. Connect the data it needs, read-only where possible. 4. Run it on a schedule with a named approver. 5. Review results for a month before adding the next job. For the people side, see our guide to [GTM engineering](/blog/gtm-engineering). ## FAQ ### What is AI-native GTM in simple terms? It is go-to-market work built so AI handles recurring tasks and people direct and approve them. ### What is an AI GTM platform? Software that bundles AI research, data, writing and outreach tools for go-to-market teams in one place. ### Do I need a GTM engineer for AI-native GTM? Someone must design and maintain the workflows. That can be a hire or a service that runs them for you. ### Is AI-native GTM only for large companies? No. Small teams often gain most, because AI covers work they could not staff. ### What should stay with people? Strategy, target choice, brand voice and final approval of anything that reaches buyers. Your AI coworkers read your CRM and analytics read-only, and each deliverable waits for your approval. ## GEO vs SEO vs AEO: what's the difference? URL: https://www.aicoworkers.com/blog/geo-vs-seo-vs-aeo SEO (search engine optimization) helps your pages rank in search results. AEO (answer engine optimization) helps your content become the direct answer to a question, such as a featured snippet. GEO (generative engine optimization) helps your brand get named and cited in AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity. All three share the same base: useful, clear pages. ## How each one works **SEO** is the oldest of the three. Search engines crawl your pages, judge relevance and quality, and rank them. You win clicks from a list of blue links. **AEO** grew with featured snippets, voice assistants and "People also ask" boxes. The search engine lifts a short answer from your page and shows it directly. You win when your page states the answer cleanly. **GEO** is the newest. The term comes from a [2023 research paper by Aggarwal and colleagues](https://arxiv.org/abs/2311.09735). An AI assistant writes its own answer from many sources. You win when it names your company or cites your page. ## GEO vs SEO vs AEO comparison | | SEO | AEO | GEO | |---|---|---|---| | Goal | Rank pages high in search results | Be the direct answer to a question | Be named or cited in AI-written answers | | Where it shows | Google and Bing results pages | Featured snippets, answer boxes, voice | ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, AI Overviews | | What wins | Relevance, links, technical health, intent match | Short, direct answers near the top of a page | Clear facts, trusted mentions elsewhere, crawler access | | How you measure | Rankings, clicks, impressions in Search Console | Snippets won, answer box presence | How often you are named, which pages are cited | ## How GEO differs from SEO in practice With SEO you see one ranked list. With GEO there is no list. Each assistant writes a fresh answer, and it can change between runs. That changes measurement. You cannot just check a rank. You ask the same buyer questions in each assistant, again and again, and record who is named. It also changes what counts. AI assistants lean on what other sites say about you. A mention in a trusted industry list can matter as much as your own page. ## Examples A B2B payroll company might target three things: - **SEO:** rank for "payroll software for small business" with a strong product page. - **AEO:** win the snippet for "how often do you run payroll" with a clear two-line answer. - **GEO:** be named when a buyer asks ChatGPT "what payroll tools suit a 50-person company?" The same well-written page can serve all three. The difference is in how you check results. ## Is GEO replacing SEO? No. AI assistants with web search still find pages through search indexes and crawlers. If your pages are hard to crawl or thin, they are hard to cite. Good SEO is the base that GEO builds on. What changes is attention. Some buyers now ask an assistant before they search. So it is worth tracking both. ## Common mistakes - **Treating them as three separate projects.** Most of the work overlaps. Start with one content plan. - **Blocking AI crawlers by accident.** Check robots.txt. OpenAI says [sites that block OAI-SearchBot will not be shown in ChatGPT search answers](https://developers.openai.com/docs/bots). - **Checking once and stopping.** AI answers vary. Track the same questions every week. - **Writing only for machines.** Pages still need to convince a person who clicks through. ## How to start 1. Write down twenty questions your buyers actually ask. 2. Check Search Console for which of them you already rank on. 3. Ask each question in ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity. Note who is named. 4. Fix the gaps: add clear answers, compare options honestly, get listed where your buyers look. 5. Repeat the checks on a schedule. ## FAQ ### What is the difference between GEO and SEO? SEO aims to rank pages in search results. GEO aims to get your brand named and cited in AI-written answers. ### Is AEO the same as GEO? They overlap. AEO usually means direct answers in search features. GEO means answers written by AI assistants. ### Do I need different content for GEO? Mostly no. Clear, factual pages that answer real questions serve SEO, AEO and GEO together. ### How do you measure GEO? Ask buyer questions in each assistant on a regular schedule. Record how often you are named and which pages are cited. ### Should a small team start with SEO or GEO? Start with SEO basics, since GEO depends on them. Add AI answer checks early so you can see the gap. Your AI coworkers read Search Console for SEO and run weekly AI search checks across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity, so both sides are measured in one place. ## What is GTM engineering? URL: https://www.aicoworkers.com/blog/gtm-engineering GTM engineering is the practice of building automated systems for go-to-market work: finding target accounts, enriching data, scoring leads and starting outreach. A GTM engineer connects data sources, CRMs and AI tools so a small team can do work that once needed many people. Clay describes it as ["building automated revenue systems using AI, data enrichment, and workflow automation"](https://www.clay.com/blog/gtm-engineering). ## Where the term comes from The work is not new. Sales and marketing operations teams have built lists and automations for years. What changed is the tooling. Clay, a data enrichment platform, says it [coined the GTM engineer role in 2023](https://www.clay.com/blog/gtm-engineering). The title spread quickly at software companies. It names a person who treats pipeline like a product: designed, built, tested and improved. ## What a GTM engineer does A GTM engineer builds and runs the machinery behind outbound and inbound. Typical work includes: - Defining the ideal customer profile with data, not guesses. - Building account and contact lists from several sources. - Enriching records with firmographics, tech stack and hiring signals. - Finding and checking work emails. - Writing AI prompts that research each account and draft a first line. - Routing leads into the CRM and the right sequence. - Watching signals such as funding, job changes or website visits. - Measuring reply and meeting rates, then fixing the weak steps. The best GTM engineers know both the code and the buyer. A clever workflow aimed at the wrong accounts still fails. ## Tools commonly used Most stacks combine a few kinds of tools: - **Enrichment and workflow tables**, such as Clay, to pull and join data. - **CRMs**, such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho or Pipedrive, as the system of record. - **Data providers** for company and contact details. - **Email verification** to protect sender reputation. - **Sequencers** to send and track outreach. - **Automation tools** to move data between apps. - **AI models** for research, scoring and writing. ## GTM engineer vs RevOps vs SDR | | GTM engineer | RevOps | SDR | |---|---|---|---| | Main job | Build automated systems that create pipeline | Run the revenue process, data and reporting | Contact prospects and book meetings | | Typical work | Lists, enrichment, AI research, routing | CRM setup, forecasting, territory and process rules | Calls, emails, LinkedIn messages, follow-ups | | Measures | Qualified accounts found, reply and meeting rates | Data quality, forecast accuracy, cycle time | Meetings booked, conversations held | | Skills | Data, APIs, prompts, automation | Systems, analysis, process design | Communication, persistence, discovery | In practice the lines blur. Many GTM engineers came from RevOps or SDR roles. In small companies one person may do all three. ## Hire a GTM engineer or run it as a service? **Hiring makes sense** when outbound is core to growth and you have a steady flow of work. An in-house engineer learns your market deeply. The risks are a slow search, a single point of failure and tools that only one person understands. **A service makes sense** when you need the workflows running now and lack the time to manage them. You get proven setups without building from zero. The trade-off is less day-to-day control, so look for clear reporting and approval steps. Either way, ask the same questions. Who decides the target accounts? Who approves messages before they go out? How will you know it is working? ## AI-native GTM AI-native GTM goes one step further. Instead of people running AI tools, AI agents run whole workflows, and people set direction and approve. The GTM engineer's role shifts from building every step to designing and checking the system. See our guide to [AI-native GTM](/blog/ai-native-gtm) for more. ## Common mistakes - **Automating before the ideal customer profile is clear.** You just reach the wrong people faster. - **Skipping email checks.** Bounces hurt your sending domain. - **Generic AI personalization.** A fake compliment is worse than none. - **No feedback loop.** Track which accounts reply and feed that back into targeting. ## FAQ ### What does GTM stand for? Go-to-market: how a company reaches buyers and wins customers, across marketing and sales. ### Is a GTM engineer a software engineer? Not usually. Most work with no-code and low-code tools, APIs and prompts rather than building software products. ### What skills does a GTM engineer need? Data handling, automation, prompt writing, CRM knowledge and a solid grasp of the buyer. ### Is GTM engineering only for outbound? No. It also covers inbound routing, lead scoring, account research and signal tracking. ### Do small companies need GTM engineering? They often benefit most, since automation lets a small team cover more accounts well. Your AI coworkers read your CRM, finds lookalike companies of your best customers, checks emails and gives a reason to reach out to each one. ## What is llms.txt? URL: https://www.aicoworkers.com/blog/llms-txt llms.txt is a plain Markdown file placed at the root of a website, at /llms.txt. It gives large language models a short summary of the site and a curated list of links to its most useful pages. It was [proposed by Jeremy Howard in September 2024](https://llmstxt.org/) and is not an official web standard. ## How llms.txt works The idea is simple. Web pages are full of menus, scripts and ads. An AI tool reading them wastes effort on clutter. llms.txt hands it a clean, short guide instead. The [proposal at llmstxt.org](https://llmstxt.org/) sets out a fixed order: 1. An H1 with the name of the site or project. This is the only required part. 2. A blockquote with a short summary of what the site is. 3. Optional paragraphs or lists with extra context, but no headings. 4. H2 sections that each hold a list of links, written as `[name](url): notes`. A section called "Optional" is used for secondary links. An AI tool can skip those when it needs a shorter context. The proposal also suggests offering clean Markdown copies of key pages, at the same address with `.md` added. ## What goes in an llms.txt file For a B2B company, a useful file is short. It might include: - One line on what you sell and who it is for. - Links to product or service pages, with a sentence on each. - Links to pricing, documentation and key guides. - An "Optional" section for the blog, case pages or older material. Here is a small example: ```markdown # Example Co > Example Co makes invoicing software for small accounting firms in the US. ## Product - [Features](https://example.com/features.md): what the software does - [Pricing](https://example.com/pricing.md): plans and limits ## Optional - [Blog](https://example.com/blog.md): guides for accounting firms ``` ## llms.txt vs robots.txt People often mix these up. | | robots.txt | llms.txt | |---|---|---| | Purpose | Tells crawlers what they may and may not fetch | Gives AI tools a summary and a list of key pages | | Status | Long-established, widely honored | A proposal, adoption is uneven | | Format | Plain-text rules | Markdown | | Controls access? | Yes, for crawlers that respect it | No | If you want AI tools to see your site, robots.txt matters more. For example, OpenAI says [sites that block OAI-SearchBot will not be shown in ChatGPT search answers](https://developers.openai.com/docs/bots). ## llms.txt vs llms-full.txt llms.txt is an index. It points to pages. llms-full.txt puts the full text of those pages into one Markdown file. Mintlify, a documentation platform, says it [developed llms-full.txt with its customer Anthropic](https://www.mintlify.com/blog/what-is-llms-txt). It is most common on software documentation sites. For a marketing site, the short llms.txt is usually enough. ## How to create an llms.txt file 1. List the ten to twenty pages that best explain your business. 2. Write one plain sentence for each page. 3. Write the H1 and a one-line summary in the blockquote. 4. Group the links under a few H2 headings. 5. Save it as llms.txt and upload it to your site root. Most site builders let you upload a file to the root. On a Next.js site, a file in the public folder is served at the root. ## How to check your llms.txt Open yourdomain.com/llms.txt in a browser. You should see plain text, not a 404 or a styled page. Check that every link works and that the order matches the proposal. Then review it each quarter, when pages change. ## Do AI assistants actually use llms.txt? Be honest with yourself here. Adoption is uneven. In June 2025, Google's John Mueller wrote that ["no AI system currently uses llms.txt"](https://seroundtable.com/google-ai-llms-txt-39607.html). He said chatbots fetch pages directly, not this file. Some developer tools read llms.txt, mostly on documentation sites. People also paste the link into a chat to give a model context. So it is cheap to add, but it will not get you named in AI answers by itself. ## Best practices - Keep it short and current. A stale file does more harm than none. - Write for a reader who knows nothing about you. - Link to pages that answer real buyer questions. - Do not stuff it with keywords. It is not a ranking trick. - Make sure robots.txt lets AI search crawlers in first. ## FAQ ### Is llms.txt required for SEO? No. Google does not use it for ranking. It is an optional file for AI tools. ### Where do I put llms.txt? At the root of your domain, so it loads at yourdomain.com/llms.txt. ### Does llms.txt replace robots.txt? No. robots.txt controls crawler access. llms.txt only describes your site. ### Should I make an llms-full.txt too? Only if you have long documentation that people load into AI tools. Most marketing sites do not need one. ### Will llms.txt get my business mentioned in ChatGPT? Not on its own. Being cited depends on clear pages, crawler access and mentions on other trusted sites. Your AI coworkers ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity your buyers' questions and record which pages they cite, so you can see what actually works. ## What Is Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)? A Plain Guide for B2B URL: https://www.aicoworkers.com/blog/what-is-generative-engine-optimization When a buyer asks ChatGPT "what's the best contract management software for a mid-size finance team?", they get a short answer with a few names in it. Generative engine optimization, or GEO, is the work of making sure your company is one of those names. It matters more every month. Buyers who used to type a search, open ten tabs and compare now ask an assistant and read one answer. If you're not in the answer, you're not on the shortlist. ## What generative engine optimization means A generative engine is any AI assistant that writes an answer instead of listing links: ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews and Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Copilot. Generative engine optimization is everything you do so those assistants: - **know your company exists**, and what it does - **describe it correctly**, in the words you'd use - **recommend it** when someone asks a question you're a good answer to - **cite your pages** as the source The term comes from a 2023 research paper of the same name, which tested how changes to a page's content changed how often generative engines cited it. The field has moved fast since, but the idea holds: assistants favour pages that answer a question clearly, back it up, and are mentioned by other sources. ## How GEO is different from SEO Search engine optimization gets a page to rank in a list of results. GEO gets a company named inside an answer. They overlap more than they differ. | | SEO | GEO | |---|---|---| | The goal | Rank on page one | Be named and cited in the answer | | What the buyer sees | Ten links | One answer, a few names | | What wins | Relevance, links, a fast page | Clear answers, being mentioned elsewhere, being easy to quote | | How you measure it | Positions, clicks | Answers that name you, pages they cite | The good news for most B2B companies: the work that helps one helps the other. A clear page that answers a buyer's question well tends to rank and get cited. ## Why it matters for B2B companies B2B buyers research before they talk to sales. When that research starts in an assistant, three things change: 1. **The shortlist forms before your website is visited.** If the assistant names three competitors and not you, many buyers never look further. 2. **Being described wrongly costs deals.** An assistant that says you're "for enterprises only" or quotes an old price sends the wrong buyers away. 3. **Small companies can win.** Assistants cite the page that answers the question best, not the biggest brand. A focused company with clear pages can be named next to much larger ones. ## Where to start You don't need a new tool to begin. Start with five steps. ### 1. Ask the questions your buyers ask Write down ten questions a buyer might ask an assistant before buying something like yours: "best X for Y", "X vs Z", "how do I solve problem P". Ask each one in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude. Note who gets named, and which pages get cited. ### 2. Fix how you're described If an assistant gets your company wrong, find where the wrong information lives: an old page, a directory listing, a comparison site. Update what you control, and make your own pages say plainly what you do, who it's for and what it costs. ### 3. Write the page that answers the question For each question where you should be named and aren't, write the clearest page on the internet that answers it. Lead with the answer. Use a short definition, a table if it helps, and facts with sources. ### 4. Get mentioned where assistants look Assistants lean on sources they trust: review sites, directories, respected publications, community discussions. Make sure you're listed accurately in the directories your buyers use, and that the sites that write about your space know you exist. ### 5. Check again every week Answers change as models update and competitors publish. Ask the same questions every week, and track which answers name you over time. ## What this looks like done for you This is exactly the work our AI search coworker does every day: asks the questions your buyers ask in each assistant, records who gets named and which pages get cited, and hands the gaps to the writers on the team, who draft the pages that close them. You approve each page before it goes live. This post was written by our AI search coworker with Abhishek, our founder, and approved before it was published, like everything on this blog.
